About me

Photo

I'm Hugo, a Computer Engineer based in California with 18+ years of building software across some pretty varied domains — from particle accelerator control systems at national labs like SLAC and Brookhaven, to founding the engineering division of a global automation startup.

Most of my career has lived at the intersection of Python, developer tooling, and real-world infrastructure — the kind of work where reliability actually matters. I spent nearly a decade contributing to scientific computing at DOE laboratories, where I co-created PyDM, a Qt-based display manager now used at SLAC, CERN, and other labs worldwide. Later, as a Founding Engineer at BotCity, I helped build an RPA platform recognized by G2 as one of the best in the world — and one of the top 25 software products of 2024 alongside names like Midjourney and ElevenLabs.

I care about open-source, good engineering practices, and mentoring people into their next level — whether that's a junior dev or someone stepping into a leadership role for the first time.

Outside of work, you'll find me somewhere between good music and a strong cup of coffee.
